Approved Medical Procedures

The National Pet Care Fund provides financial assistance to help cover part of the cost of non-elective veterinary care such as surgery (including some dental surgery), hospitalization and diagnostics. The NPCF does not cover routine exams, vaccinations, food (including prescription diets), routine spays/neuters and general prophylactic dental care.


The NPCF covers most diagnostics and testing including blood work, urinalysis, radiographs, cytology, histopathology, ultrasound, advanced imaging like CT, MRI, and contrast studies, advanced laboratory blood and urine testing, and endoscopy.



Procedures, treatments and medications that are needed in order to address non-elective, urgent veterinary care.

Not Covered:

  • Routine wellness exams and bloodwork for screening a healthy animal or maintaining a valid prescription
  • Vaccinations, Food (including prescription diets)
  • Routine Spays/Neuters
  • General Prophylactic Dental Care
  • Non Medical Grooming, Nail trims, and Anal Gland Expression
  • Routine Heartworm and Tick Borne Illness Testing in an Otherwise Healthy Animal
